We have a family tradition I started when my son was small. I&#039;m not sure how good it is for the birds but they eat it. We make a gingerbread house early in December. We make a decorative house though it is edible it doesn&#039;t taste good, especially after sitting out for a month. When we take down Christmas decorations we set the house on our platform feeder, take the roof off &amp; put our bird feed in it.  They end up eating the gingerbread &amp; seem to like it pretty well. Next time, I may try making the mortar frosting using lard instead of the regular frosting &amp; then decorate with bird food instead of candy - why it never occurred to me to do this before I don&#039;t know. I guess your post so near Christmas gave me the connection. Thanks!</description>
